Today the male brown headed cowbirds showed up as did a couple more Common Grackles. The Red winged blackbird is back and holding forth in the ash tree. The usually little guys are here, the sparrows: Song, A. tree, the fox and a solitary white throat. Juncos, mostly males, plump with very dark plumage, and chickadees, lots of chickadees. The nuthatch came in beat on the hummingbird feeder for a bit then left. I can't figure what it is doing that for. I have had only a couple blue jays this past few days and the mourning dove numbers have also dropped drastically. I think I have 9 in the yard now. There may be a vireo, can't get a good enough look at it. It likes the very top of the big maple. Crow numbers have dropped to nearly nil and starlings show up a few once in awhile. Once again I thought I saw a hummingbird, am 99% sure but can't say as I didn't see it on the feeder. It nearly mowed me down when I was walking to the mailbox. Then something flashed past the window. feeders are out and will stay out. I won't post it on the Hummingbird tracking site until I see one on the feeder or get a photo of one. Oh the butcher bird seems to be hunting elsewhere this past day or so...my brain won't work today. sorry. Marg Millard, White Point, Queens http://margmillard.ca
