Tick Talk

The South Shore Naturalists' Club will host Jeff Ogden, field entomologist with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural resources, Shubenacadie, who will talk to us about ticks in our province.

When: Wednesday, April 9, 2008
Time: 7 p.m.
Where: In the library of the Junior Senior High School, Bridgewater

It's almost tick season, so do you know what ticks we might encounter around here? Do they really "disappear" later in the season? Will a cold winter reduce their population? Where are the most dense tick populations in the province? How can I keep my house and property from becoming tick heaven?

Come and hear Jeff talk about their biology and life cycles. He has been a field entomologist for 14 years and has been working for the department of Health since 2001 on Lyme disease and West Nile virus. Jeff is a tick expert so bring along any questions you have regarding these interesting arachnids.

The public is welcome!
