As Tom noted, some of our flocks must have departed as well. Even woodpeckers are down...I haven't had to even top up the suet in two days, normally, it's a daily event to keep two logs filled. Chickadees are also down...perhaps these residents have become territorial and booted out the others? Project FeederWatch ( http://www.bsc-eoc.org/volunteer/pfw/index.jsp?lang=EN&targetpg=index) has ended for another season. This time (recorded from November to the end of March), I was feeding on average 13 species, and recorded on average, 85 birds at my feeders on the weekends. I get the most pleasure out of watching the Ravens at the carrion stations I have out. With my last raccoon though, I tried something different...instead of putting it out in the open orchard or garden, I put it in the woods near the house. I thought the crows might get it, though tales from trappers have told me that eagles will get into some pretty dense woods to feed. Although the patch of woods where the raccoon was put was not dense, I still did get an eagle. You can see the shots my wife took at: http://people.stfx.ca/rlauff/photos/recent.html Randy _________________________________ RF Lauff Way in the boonies of Antigonish County, NS. ------=_Part_8179_13489409.1207314651715 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline <div>All,</div> <div> </div> <div>The last two days have been almost spookily quiet at our feeders.
