14 March 2008 -- Prospect Peninsula Much of Prospect Bay was frozen with a thin skim of ice, and the Lesser Black-back Gull was among the usual group of gulls at the head of the bay. I managed a good photo of it two days ago, and posted the photo to the NS-RBA web site. The Short-eared Owl was hunting on the short peninsula immediately east of the village of Prospect at around 1:30 this afternoon, and there were goldeneye and bufflehead courting in the waters north of the village. A lovely day. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blake Maybank maybank@ns.sympatico.ca Editor, "Nova Scotia Birds" author, "Birding Sites of Nova Scotia" http://maybank.tripod.com/BSNS.htm White's Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
