All:

Another one for the Depths-of-Winter List. Eric Mills spotted and ad. Common
Gull, mostly in flight, at the Peace Monument at Alderney Landing. We studied
it for some time and are satisfied it was not a Mew (Short-billed)Gull. It was
with about 600 gulls at the sewage boil, perhaps 80% "Kumlien's." In comparison
with nearby Ring-billeds, it did not seem as dark-mantled as the adult I saw a
couple of months ago at E. Passage.

There was not much else of interest along the waterfront, but we had nice looks
at Bernie's Glaucous X Gr. Black-baced Gull at Sullivan's Pond and saltings of
Black-headeds at the sweage boil, all of which seemed to be adults (oddly).

Cheers, Ian McLaren
