Thurs., March 6 - Halifax Field Naturalists AGM & Members' Slide Night
The Halifax field Naturalists are noted for speedy rather than dry and lengthy Annual General Meetings, and they are always followed by a wonderful slide show presentation. Members with recently taken slides of any natural history topic are asked to bring 10-15 of them to the Museum in time to assemble them in carousels (or you can bring your own carousel pre-loaded, or a CD or DVD for digital presentation). If you are keen to share your holiday or favourite natural history pictures, but tentative about giving an extensive talk, this is your venue.

Sunday, March 9 - Flat Lake Hike
This will be another hike in the area between Herring Cove, Purcell's Cove, and Spryfield. We'll travel some lesser-known trails and paths leading to and from Flat Lake, traversing hardwood and softwood forests and going over a few barren areas. Wear suitable footwear (hiking boots) and bring some water and a snack.
      . Contact: Burkhard & Ingrid Plache, 475-1129, hfn.programme@gmail.com
. Time and place: 1:00 p.m. at the Frog Pond Parking Lot off Purcell's Cove Road, 5 minutes from the Armdale Rotary on Metro Transit Route 15.
      . Duration: 3-4 hours
. Difficulty: Moderate, with some difficult and slippery sections
