For a number of weeks I have had a fairly large flock of Common Redpolls visit on a daily basis and have seen (I think, anyway, a couple of Hoary Redpolls (whiter & somewhat bigger). Today, they have been joined by quite a few pine siskins as well. This is a day off work for me and am enjoying the view tremendously. And both male Cardinals are seen daily though, I see the female cardinal only occasionally. As well, there is a "creature" that has buried itself under a downed tree at the back of our property. From the mound of dirt covering the entrance to the tree root hole, I presume it is probably a raccoon. (there are some in the area) It/they always got into my silo feeders back in the fall, even eventually, destroying & dragging them off quite a ways. Needless to say, I moved my feeders up closer to the house and have not had any problems since. On Monday, we had a visit from a mixed flock that was at least 90 % Siskins, a single (!) Common Redpoll and 2 A Goldfinch. After having at most a half dozen Siskins on several occasions since early Dec, it was remarkable to have at least 30 in the flock. I wondered if Gary Murray's flock had made its way into Clayton Park.
