Index of Subjects
Index of Subjects I did some birding in the Valley today. There was supposed to be a 40% chance of flurries but there were snow flurries most of the time. At 2165 Grand Pre Rd. there were a female Northern Cardinal, a Northern Flicker and a Common Grackle. The towhee hadn't been seen for a few days but the lady said her neighbour further along the street on the other side of the road had been seeing it at her feeders. At Grand pre were Horned Larks, Lapland Longspurs, a group of 30 Bald Eagles which were feeding on a carcass along with crows and ravens, and a Sharp-shinned Hawk sitting in a tree. He looked quite diminutive compared to the large hawks normally seen in the area. Jim Wolford's Clay-colored and White-crowned Sparrows are still there. I looked for the Carolina Wren on Hillside without success. In Spa Springs there were a Northern Shrike and a Rough-legged Hawk. I was able to find only 3 Purple Sandpipers and 2 Harlequin Ducks at Port George but the tide was way out. Don Don MacNeill donmacneill@eastlink.ca
