Hi Heather:
My understanding is that raccoons don't hibernate but they become dormant
in cold temperatures. Apparently, they can easily move in and out of
dormancy depending on the temperature. So perhaps your friend will see the
raccoons again next week as temperatures rise. I would be interested in
knowing if he does.
John

Subject: [NatureNS] racoon question

A friend has racoons on or near his property. He enjoys
them but says they are missing right now and wondered if
they hibernate?
