Hi,

Bernard Forsythe and I did some local birding today. Still no luck with
Jim's Clay-colored Sparrow or the Carolina Wren, but that may have been
because of an adult Sharpie that was sitting n a nearby tree, spooking the
feeder birds. but we then headed off to the back woods near Greenfield. On
the way near Gaspereau was a large flock of Bohemian Waxwings, and a few
Robins. As we got out of the car on a remote road a N.Goshawk flew overhead.
We walked along a track for about an hour through snow in the woods, where
Bernard had seen a Black-backed Woodpecker ysterday, but no luck. We saw
many Rabbit tracks, and 1 set of what we thought were Grouse tracks ( but
which species?), and after several hoots by us, we suddenly noticed a Barred
Owl that had silently flown in and was sitting on a branch staring at us.

The back roads were really bad after last night and this morning's wet snow.

This morning we had a flock of about 15 Cedar Waxwings that briefly visited
or yard.
