Al: Pat sent a few useful point-and-shoot imagaes of the Hermit Thrush and I think it is defnitely worth more study. From these the following seem apparent. The back is drab brown with no hint of rufous (although in one shot with direct light on the rump an tail they are, as expected, more rufous). The flanks are cold grayish and the undertail coverts white. It looks as though it could be most like the NW subspecies guttatus, which is probably the most expected wintering vagrant subspecies here. It would be very nice if one of our keen digiphotographers could get really good images of this bird. Cheers, Ian McLaren
