Subject: [NatureNS] Wolfville CBC today - preliminary report

  Hi all,

The Wolfville CBC took place today - characterized by very cold, =
strong wind, frozen ponds and lakes, and deep snow cover. However, =
everywhere looked very pretty and Xmas-like. Total numbers are not yet =
in, but will probably end up being average/ low. Birds of particular =
interest included - Peregrine, N.Harriers, several Rough-legs, the =
expected loads of Bald Eagles and Red-tails, Sanderling, several =
Pileated Woodpeckers, flocks of Bohemian Waxwings, a N.Shrike, 2 Pine =
Warblers, White-crowned Sparrows, Vesper Sparrow, 6+ N.Cardinals, Pine =
and Evening Grosbeaks, 1 Hoary Redpoll. Alison Bogan is the compiler, =
and a complete report will follow eventually.

There are apparently 3 E.Towhees coming to a feeder in Cambridge =
(outside the count circle).=20

We have just finished a delightful pot-luck and count at our place, =
and I would like to particularly thank my wife Liz for getting =
everything ready while I was out counting birds.

  Richard
