These cameras are indeed now available in Canada. Joan Waldron
bought the Fuji camera just before she left for a family visit in
England, and I'll be curious to learn how she enjoyed it.

I purchased the Panasonic FZ18, and I've been playing with it the
past two weeks. I purchased it on-line through B&H photo in New
York, paying 25% less than the best price listed by Henry's Camera in Toronto.

Hans, Richard, and the other photographers out there using digital
SLR need not worry, but for those of us with more modest means, this
is a great camera. It is easy to use for macro photography and
landscapes, but I can now take record shots of birds using the zoom
lens, and I can even manage flight shots, something I could never do
with my older digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix.

I have placed a few images taken under conditions that would have
been impossible with my old camera. The web page is:

These are not magazine cover shots, of course, but they demonstrate
that I can capture record bird shots using this relatively
inexpensive, and convenient, camera.

Cheers,
