Nov. 8, 2007 - A female N. FLICKER turned up at our Wolfville feeders, and
(d.... it) 2 young NORWAY RATS (none seen since the litter of 4 was seen
back on Oct. 20/07.

Nov. 10, 2007 -- REGARDING MY FEEDERS in Wolfville, Iıve been bragging about
having a very polite RACCOON that raids during the night in recent weeks. I
assume it has been a single individual, who has learned how to tip one
feeder and allow the black-oil sunflower seeds to spill out (right into its
mouth, I wonder?). But no real damage other than the loss of the seeds.
Until now.

That era is over. Last night Pat and I drove to Halifax for supper and a
Neptune Theatre play (The Vertical Hour -- excellent, we thought -- and then
I was too lazy to check on my feeders when we got back home at midnight.
This morning they were all badly vandalized, and one feeder had disappeared
completely. I can only suppose that a family or clan of RACCOONS now will
be marauding nightly.

On a nicer note regarding the same feeders, this morning we had THREE N.
CARDINALS, one male and two females. Also there was a male N. FLICKER, 8
PHEASANTS (2 males, 6 females), etc.

Nov. 11, 2007 - Cold (2 C.), strong winds, and a bit of SNOW on the cars and
ground greeted us on this Remembrance Day. And New Minas and Kentville got
quite a bit more snow than Wolfville.

In Silver Lake at Lakeville were 33 HOODED MERGANSERS (14 males, 19
females)(a lovely sight) and no Canada geese.

In Harrisı Pond in Canning, 4 more HOODED MERGANSERS (all
females/immatures), 5 other unidentified diving ducks (I had no scope for
them), and no geese.

Cheers :-) from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204
