On Monday morning, I did a shorebird survey along the trail, starting from the Bissett Road parking lot and walking out approx. 3 kms, to just past the Ready-Aye-Ready bridge. The trail was badly washed out from the storm and walking was rough. Birds seen included:

Black-bellied Plover - 68
Greater Yellowlegs - 12
Red Knot - 38
Dunlin - 273
Canada Goose - 450 (none here Oct. 27)
Green-winged Teal - 8
Common Merganser - 28
Hooded Merganser - 19 (males and females, diving and displaying)
Common Goldeneye - 2 females
Great Blue Heron - 14
Common Loon - 1 juvenile, with nylon mesh entangled around its neck
gulls - Black-headed, Bonaparte, Ring-billed, Herring, Great Black-backed

Cheers,
Susann Myers
