Nov 6 / 07: Kings Co.- Canning area :

Habitant River , Legion Hall, Canning:

    Mallard - 75; Black Duck - 30; N Pintail - male;  Am Wigeon - fem;
Grn-w. Teal - 3.

            Plus one Muskrat swimming in the river.

Harris' Pond, Canning:

    Canada Geese - ~600; Hooded Merganser - male; Ring-n. Duck - fem; ~50
gulls (Herring and GBBG)

Had the pleasure of watching the Canadas arriving in 'waves' with all their
excited chatter. The latter 'wave' was of ~500 - seemed to fill the sky
over the pond! It certainly drew the attention of the gulls!

Canard Pond (~100 ducks all feeding in the back pond, as seen from Fred
Thomas Rd.)

          Am Wigeon - 4m; N Pintail - 2m, 1 f/imm;  Grn-w. Teal, Mallards
and Black Ducks.

Have been observing large numbers of Mallards in local ponds lately.

Cheers,

Judy Tufts
