A few nice birds showed up amongst the flotilla of waterfowl. In addition to good numbers of Mallard, Common Merganser, American Wigeon, and Green-winged Teal, there were also (conservatively) 10 Hooded Mergansers, 10 Northern Shovelers, 2 American Coots, 2 Pied-billed Grebes, and 2 Gadwall. There was also a small group of shorebirds, mostly Greater Yellowlegs, with a few dowitchers mixed in. I haven't been able to determine the species of dowitcher yet from my photos. -- Bruce Stevens Antigonish ------=_Part_5646_22891386.1193678920108 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Allison and I scoped the southwest impoundment of the Amherst Point Migratory Bird Sanctuary on Sunday.
