Sorry for taking so long to send a report about the field trip that took place Saturday, October 6th, 2007. James Hirtle was not able to come lead the group due to his work. Seven locals and 9 outsiders including three American birders showed up and birded. We collectively found 77 bird species in CSI. Some of the birds were heard only. Dorothy Poole and David Walmark and their group visited Baccaro so she may want to add what they found to the list. Birds worth mentioning were: 1 Red necked Grebe 2 Pied Billed Grebe 9 Gadwall 1 American Bittern 3 Peregrine Falcon 1 Broad winged Hawk 1 Solitary Sandpiper 1 Baird's Sandpiper 3 Long Billed Dowitcher (Fulton Lavender) 100 + Dunlins 2 Pectoral Sandpipers 20 Brown-headed cowbird 3 Rusty Blackbird 1 Balitmore Oriole 1 Grey Catbird 1 Yellow bellied sapsucker 1 Hermit Thrush 1 Northern Parula 1 Yellow Warbler 3 Indigo Buntings 15 White crowned sparrow 1 Lincoln Sparrow 3 Clay coloured sparrow 1 Fox Sparrow 1 Red Crossbill (sky) Cheers, Liz Doull / Fulton Lavender
