I checked out the Middle River (of Pictou) dyke in the morning. A little quiet- had Common Yellowthroat, Ch-nut Sided, Bl-th Green. Magnolia, Parula, Black & White and Myrtle Warblers as well as Catbird and 2 each of Blue-headed and RE Vireos. There were 28 Hooded Mergansers and Greater Scaup in the distance ~70 but I am sure there are more around. I got caught in a shower and cut the walk short as I did not get far on the dyke. In the afternoon I went to Waterside PP and Caribou I. Waterside PP ~ 30 species Red-necked Phalarope-1 Least Sandpiper-3 Semipalmated Sandpiper-42 Lesser Yellowlegs-9 Greater Yellowlegs-3 Ruddy Turnstone-4 Semipalmated Plover-6 Black-bellied Plover-1 Sanderling-1 American Pipit-6 Ring-necked Pheasant-8 Myrtle Warbler-30+ At the Caribou Lighthouse area Greater Yellowlegs-5 Sanderling-20 Semipalmated Plover-10 Ruddy Turnstone-30 Semipalmated Sandpiper-40 Spotted Sandpiper-1 All areas had a sprinkling of Bonapartes Gulls 70-100 in each locale. I was later speaking with Mitchell Grant visiting home from Victoria, B.C. He had an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLat the Caribou light, the adult LAUGHING GULL at Pier C in Pictou and a group of 8 Wilson's Snipe in a ditch near the tourist bureau at the Pictou Rotary. The Laughing Gull, (winter adult), has been seen off and on most of the summer either at Pier C or Rollie MacDonalds field between the Pictou Rotary and the Haliburton gut bridge although there are many times when it is not at either spot. There are about 250 Ring-billed Gulls roosting in the above field. cheers Ken --Boundary_(ID_FtFmnh5hAM9IxC6ogzKmlA) Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16525" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton NS<BR>B0K 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I made a couple of trips out yesterday Sept. 15 .
