At 8am (high tide) a large number of birds were sheltering from the viciously cold winds blowing in off the basin, at the Windsor sewage lagoons. Roughly 90 Black Ducks 11 DC Cormorants 150 or so Semi Palmated Sandpipers 10 Lesser Yellowlegs About 50 Green Winged Teals Roughly 120 Black bellied Plovers - some of these may have been Golden Plovers but they were too far away to be sure. All were hunkered down in the grass area, facing into the wind. Between 60 and 80 Swallows, both Tree and Barn. They were surprisingly active given the temperature. 3 Least Sandpipers Very large numbers of gulls, both Herring and GBB. At the Windsor tourist bureau, only 20 Black Ducks could be seen but a single Peregrine did a patrol flight over the grasses. John Belbin - Hantsport
