All:

I have received from Hon. David Morse, Minister of Natural Resources, what
appears to be a promising response to my letter sent June 8 re plans for a
possible new access to Conrad's Beach. In it he states that a "breaking of
soils" permit has been rescinded, which I hope means that plans for a new right
of way have been shelved.

Even so, I believe that the whole question of status and use of Conrad's Beach
needs attention, certainly more vigourous pursuit of wrong-doers, and perhaps
revision of status. It is now "defined as a low intesnsity recreation area with
an emphasis on resource protection" within the "Cole Harbour-Lawrencetown
Coastal Heritage Park System." This has not prevented making of campfires,
overnight camping, free running of dogs around the Piping Plover area, etc.

I and others will be following this up.

Cheers, Ian McLaren
