Hello All,

I don't know why but I can't seem to post to the list so I will make my enquiry this way.

A friend of my husband called yesterday afternoon to say that he managed to rescue a large turtle (he said its shell was at least 7 or 8 inches across) that was crossing a highway outside metro. Thinking it the right thing to do, he put it in Sullivan's Pond. He said he watched it swim down into the vegetation beneath the surface. Anyone have any thoughts of its chances of survival in Sullivan's Pond?

  Thanks,

  Gayle MacLean

PS: I did have a look at your beetle, Steve; quite spectacular looking. Beautiful photos, I must say!

  Hi Chris and all,
I caught a strikingly striped, quite large longhorn beetle in my garden trap
yesterday. Body about 20 mm long, brown and white longitudinal stripes.
Have some pictures taken through the wall of a plastic vial, but might be good
enough for an ID:

Chris -- any idea of this bug's ID?
