1. I believe the first photo is a Blackjacket wasp, Vespula 
consobrina. It shows the extent wasps can articulate their abdomens!

2. This hover fly is likely Epistrophe grossulariae. It's fairly small.

3. According to the Audubon Field Guide on Insects & Spiders, this is 
a Vinescent Metallic Green Bee. The same source states it is not 
found in N.S. (Initially I considered a Wool Carder Bee..I don't know 
if they are found in N.S. but I could not find any that had the green 
head & thorax). It's a neat bee nonetheless!

It's a good time of the summer to be looking down!
