What we thought might be a grocery bag in a tree behind Conrad's Beach
materialized into a Great Egret this afternoon. We also got close enough to
a Nelson's Sharp-Tailed Sparrow that was sitting on the boardwalk to see his
tongue while he was singing.

A little while later we were walking over the old railway bridge in
Lawrencetown Lake with our friends Brenda Bale and Sharon Pigott when five
Hudsonian Godwits flew over.
