After the discussion on this forum re bees and their possible declining populations, I have been paying particular attention to them. The plants to which Honey Bees are attracted is somewhat perplexing. At a time when three species of clover are in bloom, Honey Bees do not feed on them at all. They prefer Vetch and occasionally Bush Honeysuckle. Yesterday along the RR bed in Coldbrook there were many patches of Wild (pink) Rose in bloom. Honey Bees were numerous in several but not all of these patches. Other Bees (Bumble & otherwise) are seen on the clover species & many other flowering plants. There are a fair number of species but limited numbers of any type. Since we are told that "clover" honey is the best tasting, from which clover species do Honey Bees harvest their pollen?? Angus
