Jeff is an entomologist in the N.S. Dept. of Nat. Resources Forest Insects Lab at Shubenacadie, and a lot of his work involves ticks and Lyme Disease, and mosquitoes and West Nile virus surveys. [This is the snowshoe hare tick whose entire life cycle is spent on the hares, unlike the familiar dog tick or less familiar black-legged tick with a succession of hosts from small to large as they progress from larva to nymph to adult.][JW] Jeffrey Ogden Integrated Pest Management Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources P.O.Box 130 Shubenacadie, N.S. I stand to be corrected on this, by Andrew Hebda, or Jeff Ogden, or anyone else?? The hare tick is another species of the list of about 10? or a bit more species known for Nova Scotia? Lots of snowshoe hares. One had between 30 and 40 ticks on its ears. The ears looked pretty ragged as a result. James R.
