Arrived in Oshawa yesterday and spent the morning at Second Marsh (close to Lake Ontario). While attempting to photograph a Baltimore Oriole a Monarch swooped down on it and it flushed. Later on while observing a Oriole at a distance the same thing happened. Does anyone know if Monarchs have poor eyesight and thus reacted to the colour of the oriole? Lots of Milkweed, all in bud and a few just starting to bloom. Quite a few Monarchs but none observed on Milkweed. Angus
