Dear All, June 20, 2007
Honey Bees, during fine weather, have been working Lupin at North
Alton in small numbers for at least a week but today I noticed many
Honey Bees on nearby patches of Blackberry, now in full bloom and none
on Lupin; Bumble Bees still working Lupin.

Today, also in North Alton in a patch of tall Hawkweed, I took a
break when I noticed a Can. Tiger Swallowtail (female ?) at 12:06. It
worked Hawkweed without pause for 12 minutes, sunned on a Poplar
seedling for 2 minutes, worked another 7 and then flew off.

During the next 3 hours, while splitting & piling wood, I noticed a
Swallowtail twice (perhaps the same individual) working its way through
this patch of Hawkweed.

Today also I noticed that the small Hawkweed did not reopen until
hit with direct sunlight; some still closed as late as 10:00 a.m.

Yt, DW, Kentville
