Hi All This evening I went to a favorite spot on the river and stayed there until it was dark ( 9:45 pm ). There was a good number of mayflies of some sort laying eggs in the water as it got dark. Also some caddis along with a few black flies. There was a lot of activity under the water as hungry fish gobbled up the feed. Look like Salmon Parr, trout and perch to me but just guessing. I was concentrating on larger fish at the time. Never know when a pistorical monster will come along under these conditions. About 9:30 out came the nighthawks, one at first up to 6 at the end. They really came very close to me prehaps as close as a meter. They flew just at the level of the water and it looked as they were picking spent flies from the water. With the fog making everything sort of filtered it was fun to see the nighthawks. Really beautiful birds when seen up close. On the way back to the truck, a few bats were feeding along the bushes by the shore. No doubt the flies were there also. Enjoy the last of spring Paul ____________________________________________________________________________________ Sick sense of humor? Visit Yahoo!
