Hi All
While doing the Loon Count in Keji yesterday we saw a
female common merg fly up to a tree stump and go in.
The stump was about 5 m in height, 40 cms in diameter
- all estimates. The top 2 m of the stump had been
broken off at an angle exposing the hollow interior at
about 3 m. Almost like a chimney. The stump was very
well weathered and was a very light grey. The
surrounding trees were red pines and I think it was
also.
We were lucky to see her go in.
Have a nice spring
Paul
