The = heat of the sun even kept the black flies at bay. We found 16 Warbler = species, including the 14 common nesters, one infrequent nester, the = Tennessee Warbler and a transient Blackpoll Warbler.=20 The highlight warbler was without doubt the Canada Warbler found as = usual by the bridge on the St. Margaret's Bay Trail, just north of Round = Lake. I was stomping past the bridge when Billy Hughes found the Canada = Warbler just north of the bridge foraging in the brush over the creek = and called us all back. Eventually, and after much gnashing of teeth, = Hans Toom finally got his first Canada Warbler photos. The photo buffs = out there will understand this photographer's dilemma. I use the = aperture priority mode with my camera's lens usually set at F8 or Fll in = order to get the sharpest image and best depth of field, that is for = focus of surrounding leaves and stuff. The problem is when said = photographer finds his much coveted target bird it's in shadow with a = resulting shutter speed that is much too slow for these conditions. = There is no time to make changes since these birds often only pose for = one or two seconds. The result of this morning's conundrum was that my = hand held images were taken with a shutter speed of 1/250 second, far to = slow even for my image stabilized lens, so my hoped for image sharpness = is not present but I am pleased none the less to be able to open a web = page for this species. I've posted one photo, the first one. The Black-throated Blue Warbler is present in larger numbers this year = than I have ever observed here. They are along both sides of the = entrance road as you drive into the park, in the woodland between the = lakes, and along the St. Margaret's Bay Trail. I've posted one photo. Of alternate interest this morning at our place in Portuguese Cove was a = green moth of a colour I cannot recall seeing before. I posted one = image, the last one in this set. I have made no colour changes to this = critter at all. What you see is what it looked like. A memorable day! http://www.hanstoom.com/Highlights/Highlight86.html Hans _________________________________________________________________________= _______________________ When viewing images tap F11 or View Full Screen and use the navigation = buttons on my website _________________________________________________________________________= _______________________ Hans Toom Portuguese Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada E-mail: htoom@hfx.eastlink.ca Migration Count: http://hanstoom.com/NAMC/Index.html Nature Website: http://hanstoom.com=20 _________________________________________________________________________= _______________________= --Boundary_(ID_sbFfYutAD2rfbsI39FCexg) Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16441" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>It was a stunning day with cooperative warblers all over the park.
