Hi all,

Lewis Lake Provincial Park is one of my special spring and summertime haunts, along with Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park. Both of these fine parks are in the Chebucto Peninsula, a massive area of Halifax Regional Municipality, generally described as that body of land south of Hammond Plains Road and bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and St. Margaret's Bay. Included in the peninsula are public lands at the Terrance Bay Wilderness Area, Duncan's Cove Nature Reserve, Long Lake Provincial Park, Western Common Regional Park, Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park, Lewis Lake Provincial Park, Blue Mountain - Birch Cove Lakes Designated Regional Park and Crown lands, and Crown lands at Five Bridges Lake, Herring Cove Backlands, and Cox Lake. Many folks including me take a powerful interest in how this place evolves.

The Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust of which I am an advisor asked me to develop a brochure on the Warblers of Lewis Lake Provincial Park for public relations and education. The trust is currently negotiating with a sponsor to fund publication of the brochure, hopefully in time for this birding season. Needless to say we are all unpaid volunteers who do this work because of our commitment to seeing this area develop in a sustainable and eco friendly manner.

I've put the first draft of the brochure on my website and solicit comments, privately please, as to the accuracy and relevance of the content. All of the photographs are mine except the Canada Warbler. If someone has a Canada Warbler photo they can donate to this brochure your reward will be our thanks and your name captioned on the photo. I could use a better Wilson's Warbler photo, as well.

If the brochure is not ready in time for the June and July warbler birding season in the park, just print off this web version. I hope to do a brochure for Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park, as well.

Hans
