We tackled the looooong hill down to 2nd Lk. (at the end of Metropolitan Ave.) this morning for the first time this spring, and were rewarded with lots of warblers and others. This is a great site at this time of year. Ovenbirds - many N. Parula Warblers Redstarts -2 males Magnolia Warbler Chestnut-sided Warbler Blackburnian Warbler - 2 males Blackpoll Warblers - 1 male, 1 female Black-thr. Green Warblers Bl. & Wh. Warbler Wilson's Warbler - male Black-thr. Blue Warbler - male Also Alder Flycatcher, and Least Flycatcher Red-eyed and Bl.-headed Vireos 3 Spotted Sandpipers Red-br. Nuthatch Canada Goose Ruby-cr. Kinglet Tree Swallows among other more common birds. We went early when it was still cold & foggy, so the birds really only got going when we were on our way home along the gravel trail. We decided we should have gone later, when the insects were more active. Next time! Lois Codling L. Sackville
