May 15, 2007 - Wolfville¹s Robie Tufts Nature Centre at dusk: TOTAL OF 38 CHIMNEY SWIFTS SEEN -- Ted Wolkowski, Jim Wolford, and Michal Roberge (CBC Radio) watched from 7:50 to 8:30 p.m. (Sunset 8:36) -- 30 swifts flew by chimney at 7:55 -- 38 swifts entered chimney from 8:08 to 8:10 -- overcast, cool (11 C.), breeze from west. This evening I had supper with Michal Roberge of CBC Radio. She¹s a reporter with Maritime Noon, and at the chimney she interviewed me about swifts while we watched for them. We were very fortunate that the swifts arrived and then went into the chimney during the interview. Michal told me that I would probably be on Maritime Noon on May 16, partly as a promotion for the on-location Maritime Noon at Wolfville¹s Irving Centre on Friday, May 18. The public is invited to this event, from noon to 2 p.m., and Marjorie Willison will field questions on gardening and plants. Music will be provided by the Hupman brothers, Paula Rockwood, and a pianist? Cheers :-) from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204 --------------------- Jim (James W.)
