Some of the birds that were unexpected treats for which I was able to get photos were: Gray Jay: http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Gray_Jay.jpg Spotted Sandpiper: http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Spotted_Sandpiper.jpg An osprey with the first load of nesting material! http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Osprey1.jpg http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Osprey2.jpg The next day I did some more atlassing closer to home: Hermit Thrush: http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Hermit_Thrush.jpg Mystery Bird #1 I never did see it, but recorded its call http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Mystery.mov Least Flycatcher: http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Least_Flycatcher.jpg Oddly the Stokes CD does not seem to have the least flycatcher. Black-throated Green Warbler: http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Black-throated_Green_Warbler.jpg Mystery Bird #2 This was sitting at the top of a tree at some distance, and the lighting was not the best. It appeared to be about the size of a robin. The song was fairly long and ended with what sounded to me like the word "video", Any guesses? http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Mystery_1.jpg http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Mystery_2.jpg http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Mystery_3.jpg Pat ======================================================================== == Patrick Kelly Director of Computer Facilities ======================================================================== == Faculty of Architecture and Planning Dalhousie University ======================================================================== == PO Box 1000 Stn Central 5410 Spring Garden Road Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 2X4 Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 2X4 Canada Canada ======================================================================== == Phone:(902) 494-3294 FAX:(902) 423-6672 E-mail:patrick.kelly@dal.ca ======================================================================== == --Apple-Mail-153--973330861 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/enriched; charset=US-ASCII Hi everyone: LIke last year, I combined the migratory bird count with atlassing and started on a fourth square just south of me.
