Wolfville Ridge - May 8 / 07

We too had a hummer today. I was standing on the front porch watching
interaction between a squirrel and a chipmunk vying for fallen sunflower
seeds in the flower bed, when I recognized the sound of a hummingbird
protesting my presence near the hummingbird feeder on the front porch. By
the time I looked up all I caught was a very brief glimpse of it scooting
away. It was not seen again. This is one of the earliest dates for a
hummingbird here.

A Blue-headed Vireo was singing in our backyard this morning. What a
delightful way to start the day with this little cheerful earful!!

Cheers
Judy Tufts

We just had our first hummer...I see from the migratory map we are not first

in NS, but haven't seen any other postings here as yet.

I just put up the feeder this morning...none too soon it seems.
