All,

Last night I did my second Nocturnal Owl Survey (Guysborough to Antigonish
Counties) with a couple of students. We had seven Porcupine (most en route
to Stop 1, in the fields enjoying green grass), two Snowshoe Hare and four
White-tailed Deer.

Non-owl birds on the survey included one Woodcock and one Common Loon.

Owl: 5 Barred, 2 Great Horned, several unknowns (the auditorially-enhanced
students could hear them, I couldn't!) and a possible Long-eared (I have to
review the CD again...it wasn't the single hoot call, rather it was the
barking call that I first interpreted as an odd duck). No Saw-whets at all.

Randy
