An Iceland Gull was still at the park as well as 3 Lesser Yellowlegs and 2 Greater Yellowlegs and a group of Willets. The latter 2 have been present for a few days. We saw just under 50 species for this square in 4 hours of leisurely atlassing followed by the square hosts providing hot drinks and scones. A very pleasant outing! There were about 60 Bonaparte's Gulls at the Pictou Causeway many are hooded. I saw about 35 there last Sunday (Apr. 29). Yesterdays birds were joined by about a dozen Common Terns. There were 4 Greater Scaup along the Causeway,. Also on Saturday, May 5 Steve Vines discovered a Northern Shrike, still retaining some immature plumage, (no white on the wings) at Pleasant Valley- Ross Rd. Nearby Steve also had a Blue-headed Vireo. Harry and Jean Brennan reported a Spruce Grouse on the Trafalgar Rd. near the Nelson R. crossing. Today I noted about 60 Tree Swallow at Melmerby Beach at times hunkered down on Bayberry or on the beach facing into the strong N wind. Not much more than 5C today na dshowers most of the morning. Burr!! Mayflower is just coming into bloom. cheers Ken --Boundary_(ID_Tm7EY6UkUGhOGmTGeJNEPg) Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16414" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton NS<BR>B0K 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>On an atlas field trip for beginners yesterday at Caribou R., Pictou Co., we had a Sora calling at Waterside PP.
