Hi Everyone;

Here are a few highlights from my owl survey which I
ran last Saturday, Apr.28th with my fellow owl survey
team members: Bob McDonald and Patricia Chalmers.

It was overcast, and the wind rose during stops 6 and
7; but fortunately died down again. It's amazing how
loud wind in the branches can be when you're out in
the middle of the woods, far from civilization,
traffic, etc.

Our best stop was #3. We heard a GHOW, not too
distant, then a BARR much closer, which then flew
across the road right in front of us and joined
another BARR in a duet. We stayed for a few moments
after the stop ended enjoying the serenade and
watching the two owls.

After that we had another BARR, very distant, and two
NSWO's.

We enjoyed an aerial display by a AMWO which was
"peenting". We also heard Loons flying overhead, Wood
frogs and a few, not many Spring Peepers.

Cheers;
Suzanne
