Hi all:

The bass are active as I caught and released an 8.5 incher. We are not
allowed to keep them until after June 15, otherwise it would not have gone
back into the lake. I had a trout hit, but did not catch it. I suspect the
fish in the lake are so full of food that the trout that did hit was just
playing with the bait. There were a lot of fish breaking on the far shore.
Therefore I believe they were mainly feeding on that shore and not on the
one that I was fishing. This far shore is accessible normally with hip
waders and I fish it every year, but today the area was so flooded that I
could not get anywheres close to where I wanted to. It is a lake none
accessible by boat any longer, which is a good thing. When it could be
fished by boat and people got wind of the area it was hit very hard and the
numbers of fish in the lake dropped off rapidly. I suspect the bass got
into this lake by following the brook up from a lake further back. When I
was younger and went there initially with my dad there were no bass there.
Either that or someone along the way introduced bass there.
