Thanks, JET & DB for the info on cecropia and polyphemus moths. I have placed the cocoon in a large container outdoors, loosely covered and with a climbing branch and will try to keep moist weekly. The tan inner cocoon has darkened to almost the grey/brown of the outer one. I am leaning towards cecropia as I do recall last year moving a very long, fat, green caterpillar out of the lawnmower's path in the vicinity of that azalea bush. Perhaps they both have green caterpillars, of course, and I shall have to wait and see! Ken MacAulay Port Mouton, NS
