Hi Dorothy, While the Sharp-shinned Hawks and Merlins are much more common hunters at feeders, American Kestrels are also perfectly capable of taking birds at a feeder. The abundant and mostly ground feeding Dark-eyed Juncos at your feeder would be a likely target for a hungry kestrel. The Birds of North America account of American Kestrels indicates "...individuals may become adept at capturing flying insects or small birds." All the best, Lance
