Yesterday at some point I opened my front door to shake out a mat and heard the very rapid drumming of a Downy Woodpecker nearby. Almost every day I have one or two White Breasted Nuthatches here after sunflower seeds and the usual Black capped Chickadees. There are very very few Bluejays, however. The Goldfinches seem to have dispersed. I have yet to hear or see a Grackle, Red winged Blackbird or Robin! A slow spring so far. JET
