This talk will describe a narrative/storyline approach to designing and delivering environmental education programs, using Mysterious Encounters Earth as an example. This program, led by Acadia and high school students, is offered each fall to local grade 5 classes on the Irving Centre Woodland Trails. The talk will include the results of narrative interviews with one class of participants which provide a window into appreciating what children learn and value in these experiences. =20 Dr. Alan Warner is an assistant professor in the School of Recreation Management and Kinesiology at Acadia University. He completed his B.Sc at Brown University, his MA at Dalhousie, as well as his Ph.D at Dalhousie. His research interests include environmental education, environmental sustainability, community youth leadership, and nature interpretation. He=B9= s been actively involved with the Adventure Earth Centre in HRM, developing environmental and earth education programs as well as residential summer camps and experiential programs for schools.
