Exit 10 is the Grand Pre exit from Hwy. 101. If you drive south over the overpass there, the farm at the end of that road is where the hawk generally is. Drive east on the dirt road past the farm and scan the poles and posts and trees for this hawk, which appears to be "Tide-white" at a distance. Its eyes are dark, and from memory I think the legs and cere are yellow. As usual with these partial albinos, we have no idea where its summer range is. Cheers from Jim ---------- From: John Kearney <john.kearney@ns.sympatico.ca> Reply-To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Date: Thu, 01 Mar 2007 07:39:33 -0400 To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Subject: [NatureNS] Albino Buteo Yesterday, February 28, I saw an albino buteo, probably a Red-tailed Hawk, near Exit 10 on Highway 101 at Hortonville. The hawk was seen on various trees and high posts in the fields just south of the highway and the Ridge Road. It was immaculately white except for one small dark spot on the back of the head.
