	It is some time since I have lived in  the UK. It was probably about 1989 that we were 
there last for a lengthy period, and at that time milk still came to the door in glass bottles with 
foil caps.
	At that time I knew about the Blue Tit story, but thought of it as somewhere between 
urban myth and the stuff of animal behaviour texts. But one winter day I was birding with 
some friends in rural Gloucestershire. Shortly after dawn we drove into a town where milk in 
bottles was being delivered door to door by a  man in a motorized cart. The cart was being 
followed - literally - by a cloud of Blue Tits in flight, anticipating the next stop.
