Index of Subjects

Here are two photos of the Harris Sparrow located at Lower LaHave. As noted by Eric M., this is a winter-plumaged adult. What has struck me about these Zonotrichia sparrows (White-crowned, White-throated, etc.) is their perkiness and this individual displayed that perfectly. Although the photos were taken through a window and at a distance so they're not sharp, the bird is difficult to pick out against the background. One of the photos illustrates that cryptic plumage well, an excellent survival trait for a tundra nester.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/58321572@N00/368482357/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/58321572@N00/?saved=1

Thanks to James Hirtle for alerting everyone to this bird and to Dave Watson for being such a genial host.

Angus
