Hope for Wildlife News!Hi Folks,

I just received this message from a friend and thought that many NatureNS subscribers would be interested.

Cheers,

Bob McDonald

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE
HOPE FOR WILDLIFE SOCIETY

We have some important news to share, and would like your help in
getting this news to your friends and colleagues. We need your help
this year more than ever!

First, we are very excited to announce that the Hope for Wildlife
Society will be undertaking the rehabilitation of raptors (birds of
prey). The Atlantic Raptor Rehabilitation Centre, Head of St.
Margaret's Bay, are retiring after 25 years of selfless service, and
are generously donating over $30,000 worth of flight cages to the
Society.

Our new Raptor Rehabilitation Program makes this the second major
program taken on by the Society in the last 11 months. Last year, we
successfully qualified to establish the only licensed program for the
Rehabilitation-for-Release of White-tailed Deer.

As our Society grows and expands into new areas, it is critical that
we build a strong support network to not only seek donations, but to
explore other methods of fundraising (such as individual and
corporate sponsorships). It is in the area of fundraising that we
would like to ask for your help this year.

Please forward this email to as many people as possible so that we can
get our Society and our programs better known, and increase our
exposure in the community.

As we are sure everyone can appreciate, as a Society that receives no
government funding for our day-to-day operations, we must increase
community awareness of the importance of our work with wildlife and
the environment. We would also like to expand our community education
programs. In this way we can educate people on the importance of the
need for careful interaction between humans and wildlife; and stress
our responsibilities when wildlife is injured due to interaction with
us (cars, dogs, cats, window strikes, etc.).

While many people enjoy our Annual Coffee House at Cole Harbour Place
(April 15th - 12-4 p.m.) and our Annual Open House at our facility
(August 26th - 12-4 p.m.) they do not see the effort that occurs
behind the scenes. Not many people realize that our volunteers work
from 6 a.m. until midnight 7 days a week during our busy season, when
the babies are constantly arriving and needing care and feeding. They
also may not realize that funds raised through the Coffee House and
Open House are critical to our survival. As a result, we greatly
appreciate the donation of silent auction items for the Coffee House
and Open House. All donations can be dropped off at the Dartmouth
Veterinary Hospital, 61 Tacoma Drive in Dartmouth.

In closing, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support and
cannot stress strongly enough how important it is that we get the word
out to the community about our Society and its programs. The need for
financial support to keep our programs running is critical.

Warmest Regards,

Hope
