The Life and Death of the Salt Marsh
Science and art will meet when St. F.X. marine biologist David Garbary =
and Harry Thurston, Writer-in-Residence in the Pictou-Antigonish Library =
System, give a joint presentation on the life and death of the =
Northumberland Strait salt marshes. For several years, Dr. Garbary has =
been studying the loss of salt marshes due to sea level rise in =
Antigonish, Pomquet and Tracadie Harbours. Thurston will illuminate =
Garbary's illustrated talk with readings from A Place Between The Tides, =
A Naturalist's Reflections on the Salt Marsh, winner of the 2005 Sigurd =
Olson Nature Writing Award.
