Among 1000 Canada Geese in the Port Joli sanctuary today was a flotilla of 6 sleeping Ruddy Ducks (along with many other ducks, including a few Black and Surf Scoters and 100 Scaup, about one-third Lessers). Nearby in Summerville Beach P.P., among about 30 Myrtle Warblers, was a first-fall female (apparently) Audubon's Warbler, notable for its sandy-gray coloration, lack of any pattern on the head, throat indistinctly separated from the rest of the head and pale yellowish in colour. The Port Joli sanctuary is west of Port Mouton along Route 3 and Saint Catharine's Road; today the geese and ducks were easily visible from the viewing point near the N end of St Catharine's Road and the first opening to the harbour along Hwy 3 westbound. Summerville Beach PP, is located in Summerville Centre, a few km W of Liverpool along Hwy 3. The flock of Myrtle Warblers was in bayberry thickets near the big parking area, accessible on foot because the road is closed to cars for the winter.
